A Delicious Beginning to 2014 (and end of 2013)!

As you might guess from my lack of posts since before Christmas, I have been pretty busy. All good stuff, but it’s been busy!

The whirlwind of the last few weeks has consisted of Christmas in Michigan, anniversary celebration in Chicago, and a ski trip in Utah.

All of this business consisted of some AWESOME meals. I can’t count the number of times over the past few weeks that the words “this might be the best thing I’ve ever tasted” have come out of my mouth.

But seriously, this pistachio crusted red trout served over forbidden black rice and topped with pomegranate seed and arugula really is the best thing I’ve ever tasted.

There were some less gourmet meals that were equally as delicious. For example, this bison beef burger with gruyere, blue cheese, and caramelized onions served with parmesan dusted french fries.

Or the truffle oil fries with blue cheese crumbled, pulled pork, and a fried egg on top.

Even the homemade fare was spectacular this year. We had our traditional beef tenderloin for Christmas Eve dinner that was cooked to perfection and served with potato au gratin (compliments of Williams-Sonoma) and steamed asparagus.

And my favorite was the combo of a giant s’more on homemade graham cracker and a Krispy Kreme donut a la mode (omg…I’m still dreaming about this).
