Purple Monster Smoothie

My sister is the best. Knowing that I don’t always keep up with the hottest trends in fashion, she graciously got me a subscription to Allure magazine. My closest is full of “basics” and “essentials” and totally lacking in the fun trendy items that pop up every season. I’ve got everyone out there beat in the number of well-fitting jeans and black and white tees. Not for much longer, the other day I actually debated purchasing a pair of camo skinny jeans (what?!).

So what does any of this have to do with this amazing purple smoothie?


Apparently, since I’m all fashion savvy now, I know that purple is the hot color of fall. So me, being me, decided to make a healthy treat out of it instead of going out looking for a cute purple top to pair with my army jeans 😉


Here’s what you need to know about this smoothie…it’s LOADED with all the good-for-you ingredients that will keep you glowing throughout the cool fall weather that’s approaching. Blueberries are packed with antioxidants to help repair free radicals. Flaxseed and almond butter up your daily dose of omega-3s and fiber. By starting your day with this, you can rest assured that you have gotten at least 2 servings of fruits and veggies out of the way before you walk out the door in the morning.

Purple Monster Smoothie

Makes 2 servings

1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1/2 banana

1 cup frozen blueberries

1-2 handfuls of spinach or kale

1 tablespoon flaxseed meal

1 tablespoon almond butter

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend on high for 1-2 minutes. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the delicious taste of

    Totally trying this recipe this weekend. Been craving a nourishing smoothie & to use our new blender! Would Soy milk suffice? Same difference?

        Literally LOVE this…Have made it 4 times this week. It’s been super satisfying as a post-workout snack or just a breakfast on the go. The only thing I added was cinnamon. Also, I had never really tried almond butter but now I’m TOTALLY on board.
